Tribune Bay white sandy beach water taxi from Nanaimo

Our Story

At Classic Boat Adventures,  our mission is to provide you with lasting memories cruising aboard a classic wooden yacht, whether on a sunset cruise, a 2 Hr tour of Gabriola Island and beyond.  Make your experience in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island unique and avoid the crowds this summer by boat.  The longer 4-Hour duration trips can circle Gabriola Island or go to Pirates Cove.  Better yet spoil yourself with a multi-day tour package to places like Tribune Bay, Salt Spring Island, Desolation Sound, or Chatterbox Falls  aboard a classic, beautifully restored 1954 - 53' Chris-Craft Constellation.  Travellers will experience whale watching, observing extraordinary sea life, and the west coast mountain scenery.  If you decide on a tour spend time kayaking or  enjoy the white sand beaches and warm waters of Tribune Bay as an example.

Trips booked also help us to preserve and maintain this now 71 year old Chris-Craft Constellation for future generations of boaters to enjoy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at captaincolin@classicboatadverntures  if you cannot find an answer to your question.

24 Hr notice is required for a refund.  In Addition, if the weather is stormy/poor refunds will always be provided due to unforeseen weather conditions.  Captain Colin will coordinate with upcoming guests on the anticipated weather early on the day of a trip if the weather is sketchy and Colin has final call on cancelling trips due to weather and full refund will be provided.  Short 2,4 Hr trips the weather generally won't impact these unless major wind or rain storm

Palms Harbourside Marina, 1250 Stewart Ave, Nanaimo.  The facility has public pay parking.  The boat is kept within the first boat shed #1 from shore on Dock A, which is the first dock upon entrance  into the parking lot.  Our logo is on the door of the boathouse, and 15 minutes prior to departure, a representative of ClassicBoatAdventures will meet guests at the locked first door entrance to dock A.

Only You is a beautifully restored classic mahogany planked hull with teak decks that the previous owner completed a major restoration in 2016, replacing all but the pilot house teak decks, replacing the transom and hull planking, refastening the hull and doing interior upgrades all in keeping with the 1950s vintage.    The boat was repowered with twin Perkins-Sabre M135 engines that are fuel-efficient and reliable.  A 11'6 RIB with 25Hp takes guests to and from the beach and is also part of the safety equipment.  Two kayaks ontop of the covered deck are available for guests on the longer trips where anchorage is made.   The boat has the latest multi-function chart plotter and dual VHF radios as part of the modernization of electronics for navigation and safety, complete with an autopilot.  Starlink provides internet coverage on longer trips.  The boat has a full washroom and kitchen facility.

Non-marking shoes are required as part of helping to preserve the quality of the teck decks and finish.   Spare unisex deck sandals are available in various sizes to accommodate those guest that don't show up with any, thanks for your understanding, it saves on maintenance.

Children as young as 4 are welcome aboard, they would be required to weara life jacket at all times unless they remain within the inner salon.   The boat cannot accommodate individuals with mobility impairments.

The suggested maximum group size for the longer trip to Tribune Bay is 5 for visiting the island/beach, as  it takes time to ferry people to/from the beach.  If some guests wish to stay behind on the boat, then 8 guests are fine for the voyage.

In summer if you plan on going to the beach, your swim gear and appropriate foot wear.  Your feet and legs up to ankles will get wet when exiting the RIB onto the beach.   Bring your sun glasses and sunscreen.  There is a great 3 hr roundtrip walk to the point at Helliwell Park adjacent the beach that has spectacular views so good comfortable footwear is prudent.  Guests are happy to just hang out on the boat and swim from it or just relax or take a kayak out to explore adjacent areas like Little Tribune Bay.

Trips to other destinations such as Desolation Sound and Beyond are possible.  If  you fill out the contact us with your ideas/itinerary and we can discuss further on availability and pricing.  The boat can sleep 5 guests sharing 2 bedrooms and has full bathroom and kitchen and BBQ facilities.   Kayaks are available and guests that have a pleasure craft operator license could take the 5 person RIB boat on excursions to fish or explore.

For sure, this boat is a beautiful example of mid 1950's boat architecture and speaks to the period of that time for the curved shapes and fine woodworking/craftsmanship of that time.  Chris-Craft Constellations of the 1950's were known as one of the finest boats of that time period.   Several clients have done photo shoots to take advantage of the nostalgic nature of the 1950's period.   Send an email with your ideas and we can discuss further.
